David Hasselhoff's daughter makes history: first plus-size model in 'Playboy' Europe
Hayley, 28, participated in several television series but since 2014 she has not stopped modeling and appearing on different catwalks as a 'curvy' model.
Model Hayley Hasselhoff, daughter of the popular 'Baywatch' or 'Fantastic Car' actor David Hasselhoff, has become the first plus-size woman to appear on a European cover of 'Playboy' magazine. At 28, the young woman has posed for the German edition of the prestigious publishing company with the aim of normalizing the different body types that exist and also giving visibility to 'curvy' models in an industry dominated by extremely small sizes.
"For me, 'Playboy' is fun, sensuality and empowerment, it focuses on the power of women: feminine, attractive, strong and courageous women who are not afraid to show love for their bodies. It is a sign of strength when one woman decides to show herself like this ", Hayley expresses in the interview she has starred in. "I am deeply humbled and honored to be the first 'curvy' model on a European 'Playboy' cover," she later stated on her Instagram profile.
"I am overwhelmed by what this cover means for inclusion and its greater purpose towards female empowerment. I wanted to use this platform to express that you have the power to love your body without hesitation due to the beauty standards of society," she added. "If there is one thing I would say to my younger self, it is that you are worthy just the way you are. Now, more than ever, we should draw on self-exploration and be encouraged to celebrate ourselves in whatever way we see fit ( ...) I can only hope this cover lets women know that they are loved, valued and desired just the way they are, right here, right now. "
Two women were the forerunners in other editions
Hayley Hasselhoff is the first 'curvy' in 'Playboy' Europe, but before her two other models already laid the foundations that of course made history. Back in 2016 the pioneer was Fluvia Lacerda, a Brazilian woman who posed for the edition of her country and whom some call the Gisele Bundchen XL 'because of the repercussion she is having in the fashion industry. She was spotted by a scout on a New York bus and hasn't stopped working ever since. So much so that in addition to her work in fashion and magazines, she has written a book on her life and has released a beauty documentary alongside other 'curvy' models.
In the US edition, the first 'plus size' model to pose for the cover of 'Playboy' was Molly Constable in 2017. "Your weight is not important. It's how you act with people and how you feel inside," he confessed then.
